WHITE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST: MAIN CAUSES AND HOW TO FIX
In winter, due to the low temperature, the exhaust pipes of cars on the road emit white smoke, which is a normal phenomenon. But if your car still emits a lot of white smoke in normal temperature, you need to find out the specific reason.
Discharge the milky white oil mist from the exhaust pipe.
This kind of situation is common when the engine starts in winter, and it can also be seen when the car parked in rainy season starts for the first time. This is due to the low temperature, poor fuel atomization, it being discharged from the exhaust pipe to form milky white smoke without combustion. It doesn’t matter. Once the temperature of the engine rises, the white smoke will disappear. This condition does not need to be repaired.
When the engine is running, a large amount of water vapor and white smoke are discharged from the exhaust pipe, and there are water drops at the outlet of the exhaust pipe.
At this time, check whether there is water in the oil tank, whether the cylinder gasket is damaged, whether the cylinder block is cracked, and whether the cylinder liner sealing ring is in good condition. The main reason is the water vapor formed by the cooling water flowing into the cylinder or the water contained in the gasoline. The normal white smoke is due to the exhaust gas in the exhaust pipe. When the temperature of the exhaust gas reaches a certain degree, it will condense into water droplets.
High temperature in the cylinder
The high temperature in the cylinder will also cause the gas to enter the oil pan, which will cause the oil to deteriorate. This kind of harm is very common. Therefore, it must not be too much or too little when adding the oil. In general, tail gas is only water vapor, but with the influence of high idle speed of cold vehicle, white smoke will also appear in water vapor. In fact, the phenomenon of white smoke is relatively easy to do, as long as there is no black smoke or blue smoke.
Coolant leakage
When the car emits white smoke while driving, the indication is obvious, but it is not so obvious when you start it. The reason for this white smoke is that the burning coolant is somehow confused. When your car lacks coolant, it may heat up and emit white smoke. Do not drive the vehicle with insufficient coolant, as this may lead to more serious consequences. Coolant leaks, even small ones, can pose a risk of serious damage to the vehicle.
Other reasons
The exhaust pipe of the car emits white smoke, which may be due to the air filter of the car stained, resulting in insufficient air intake. It may also be due to the failure of the carburetor. Or it may be due to the pollution of the oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe, resulting in the computer unable to provide correct information for the air distribution.
If it is a small problem that can be solved by yourself, you can check it at home in the following order.
Step 1, Inspect the intake gasket.
Step 2, Examine further to check the head gasket.
Step 3: Look for any crack in the cylinder head
If the problem is serious, it is recommended to go to a professional maintenance shop and ask professional maintenance personnel to check and repair, so as to solve the problem as soon as possible.
