WHAT MAY AFFECT THE EXHAUST SOUND?
Exhaust Pipe Size Changes Sound
Whether the exhaust nozzle alone can change the car’s sound largely depends on the parts used, and other factors, such as expected effect, budget and additional modification, should also be considered.
The car exhaust pipe is mainly determined by muffler, resonator, catalytic converter and pipe diameter, several factors of which will affect the sound at the top. From the tip of the 1.5-inch-diameter exhaust pipe to the tip of the 4-inch-diameter exhaust pipe, the sound of the exhaust pipe can be changed. Smaller diameter pipes limit the engine, slow down the exhaust flow and reduce engine noise, while larger diameter tips make the engine louder only when the original tip is limited. Another way is to use adjustable tips. Using a conical or disc-shaped insert, these needles can not only change the wavelength characteristics of the escaping exhaust gas, but also suppress the flame emitted by a very short exhaust system. Although this is a quite effective choice of exhaust sound regulation, their cost is also very high. It is cheaper to buy a new muffler instead.
Replace Tail Section of Exhaust Pipe
Change the sound of the exhaust pipe of the car. It’s Okay to replace the tail section of the car exhaust pipe. It’s very convenient to install. Just screw it. The loudest part is the straight tail section. Most people will feel too noisy and annoyed in a period of time, so they don’t use too much. The voice of back drum is vigorous and low, which is the quietest. The sound of S drum is bigger than the original one. You can choose the right tailpipe segment according to your own demands.
Is Sound Modification Necessary
The difference in the sound of the car exhaust pipe is that it will sound a little high, but if it is not changed well, the sound will become as bad as that of the tractor. After all, the quality of the sound depends on the adjustment of the engine. But generally, the refitting of a car is not only to change one part, but to upgrade the whole car. Because the adjustment of the car at the factory is very balanced, if you only change one item, it will break the balance of the whole car, and maybe there will be many problems, so you should be cautious.
A Strange Noice
If the exhaust noise suddenly increases, it can be determined that the exhaust pipe muffler is perforated, and there will be a crack. If you want to know more about the reason, you should first understand the structure of the muffler. After the engine works, it is followed by the exhaust stroke, which is to exhaust the exhaust gas in the cylinder. Because the exhaust gas at this time is in high temperature and high pressure, which is discharged directly from the car exhaust pipe, it will produce a lot of noise. Muffler is a combination of multi-stage shunt and partial pressure. Its silencing principle is to use the appropriate combination of cavity and tube to achieve two kinds of silencing effects.
The first is to use the abrupt change of pipe section (i.e. the change of acoustic reactance) to make the sound wave propagating along the pipe reflect back to the direction of sound source, so as to make the sound energy reflect back to the original place.
The second is to use the reflection of several interfaces to make the original first forward propagating sound wave return to the origin, and turn back again to forward propagating. This point merges with the second forward propagating sound wave that has not yet been reflected, and the two are equal in amplitude, and the difference in phase is an odd multiple of 180 degrees, so as to interfere with each other and cancel each other.
Other Possibilities of Sound Change
There are changes in sound, as well as the following possibilities:
1. The internal structure of muffler is damaged.
2. The flow cross-sectional area of the exhaust pipe has changed. That is, it is blocked. The muffler cotton is aged and deteriorated, and may be blown out by the exhaust, and gradually gathered in the car exhaust pipe, so that the cross-sectional area of the exhaust pipe has changed.
3. There is air leakage at the connection between exhaust pipe and muffler.
If none of these are available, consider the problems before the three-way catalytic converter, including the engine.
If there is a problem with the exhaust system, it is recommended to have it repaired and installed by a professional mechanic. Due to improper installation, the exhaust gas of the vehicle will leak into the compartment, which will lead to carbon monoxide poisoning of the driver and passengers, endangering life. No matter what, safety comes first.
