WHAT IS AN EXHAUST HEADER?

Many people think that the exhaust system is very simple. In fact, the engine exhaust system is also related to our environment. The function of the exhaust system is to collect exhaust gas from each engine cylinder, reduce exhaust noise, eliminate flames and sparks in the exhaust gas, and allow the exhaust gas to be safely discharged into the atmosphere and emit harmful substances. The exhaust gas is controlled. The exhaust header is a part that enhances the performance of the exhaust system.

The exhaust header is an automotive component used to improve vehicle performance. For those drivers who are pursuing high speed and performance, the small increase in performance brought by the exhaust header is very important. A larger air intake hole is required for the engine when installing the exhaust header. The exhaust header can be modified to prevent back pressure by modifying the exhaust system, which allows the cylinder to push the exhaust out more easily than conventional exhaust systems. There are many types of exhaust headers depending on the driver’s different needs. In general, there are two types, one for performance adjustment for low performance and the other for higher performance for performance enhancement.

How the Exhaust header Works?

In a conventional exhaust system, after combustion, the cylinders exhaust the exhaust gases out of the exhaust manifold and exhaust the exhaust gases out of the vehicle through the exhaust pipes. But in this process, the exhaust manifold creates a back pressure that applies pressure to the cylinder, which means that the cylinder must apply more energy to push the exhaust gas out before it can prepare for the next ignition. In this case, some energy is lost and the efficiency is reduced.

The exhaust header works differently than the exhaust manifold, which essentially creates a separate exhaust pipe for each cylinder and directs the exhaust to the collector. The ducts of the exhaust header are bent into a shape suitable for installation under the hood and are cut to the same length so that the exhaust gas sequentially reaches the collector after each cylinder is ignited. The exhaust header is one of the simplest stationary attachments that can be installed to improve engine performance.

In some cases, the exhaust header can be adjusted to pull the exhaust valve of the next cylinder and suck the exhaust, which means that the workload of cylinder is reduced and the cylinder works more efficiently. The low-performance exhaust header is more suitable for drivers who want to get more power in towns and achieve better acceleration under heavy loads, while the high-performance exhaust header is more suitable for drivers who are looking for high speed on open roads.

A wide variety of manufacturers manufacture a wide variety of exhaust headers for a wide variety of vehicles, and it is important to install an exhaust header for your vehicle. Exhaust headers should be installed with care, as exhaust leaks may occur due to improper installation. And the exhaust header should be installed by a professional if you can’t install it appropriately. Improper installation of the exhaust header can result in an exhaust leak that can drain into the cab of the vehicle, causing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning to the driver and passenger.
