Tips of Repairing the Exhaust Pipe

1. We should use the floor jack to raise just one side of the the vehicle, keeping the tires on the passenger side on the ground.

2. Then we can use the safety jack stands to secure the vehicle in the air, which will give us enough space to move around under the car.

3. After that, we should locate the exhaust leak on the vehicle. Often, the damaged portion of the exhaust piping will be facing the ground due to the most exposure. If not, we can start the vehicle and listen for the exhaust leak.

4. The next step for us is getting the exhaust piping warm and heat it preferably over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

5. In this step, we should take a piece of steel wool to cover the damaged area of the exhaust pipe. After which, we can apply the repair tape to the area.

6. In the next step, we should fix the empty can around the exhaust pipe firmly.

7. After all of these, we should start our vehicle for 15 minutes to allow the adhesive on the repair tape to activate and adhere to the exhaust pipe.

Finally, we should take some tests to check completion of repair. After removing and lowering the vehicle to the ground, we can start the vehicle and take it for a test drive. If the engine is quiet and and the exhaust pipe sounds smooth, the repair will be completed and effective.
