HOW TO MODIFY AN EXHAUST SYSTEM?

Automotive exhaust systems are designed to move hot gases from the engine to the rear of the car and into the air stream.

How to modify exhaust system?

Car enthusiasts will often modify a car’s exhaust system in order to increase the engine performance or get the noise of the engine to achieve a specific pitch.

Exhaust System Components include:

Exhaust manifold
Head pipe
Flange gasket
Catalytic converter
Oxygen sensors
Primary transfer pipe
Pressure diverter
Secondary exhaust pipe
Muffler
Resonator
Tail pipe
Heat shields
System hangers (rubber)

It requires good knowledge of your car’s exhaust system, but it can be completed with a minimum of fuss, provided you follow some basic guidelines.

Things You’ll Need: Jack or hydraulic lift, Welding torch, Bolt cutters, Socket wrenches. Instructions: Raise the car up on a jack or a hydraulic lift so that you can comfortably work on the exhaust system. Note the part of the exhaust system you wish to modify and the point in the line at which it is found.

How does exhaust system work?

Automotive exhaust systems are designed to move hot gases from the engine to the rear of the car and into the air stream. These gases/contaminants include Particulate matter (PM), Sulfur dioxide (SO2), Carbon monoxide (CO), Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and Hydrocarbons (HC) and if inhaled by passengers can cause asphyxiation. After the engine’s combustion process the exhaust valve opens in the cylinder head allowing the hot gases to enter the exhaust system where an exhaust manifold is made of cast iron or tubular stainless steel is bolted to the cylinder head which is bolted to a head pipe. This is where the primary or position 1 oxygen sensor will frequently reside.

Why to modify exhaust system?

Modified exhaust system are popular with the car owners. They not only care for performance improvement, but also great appearance and the sound of exhaust. It will greatly add the perfect color and personalization. Easy switch in different environment for quiet and noisy purpose will cater for those with children.

Original car exhaust system commonly uses iron material or other material and it looks thin. So after a few years in normal use, exhaust acid contained in the component causes the exhaust pipe to corrode. Modified exhaust mostly uses SUS201/304 stainless steel, reduces the weight, because the stainless steel material inside sleek reduces air friction, increases exhaust efficiency effectively.

The exhaust system design of the original car is a combination of the overall safety factor, cost, use standard and parts adjustment and other reasons, so the baffle exhaust system is used. It limits the output of the engine horsepower. The modified exhaust makes an effective design according to the engine exhaust, releasing the output of the original car to the horsepower.
